About Grace

I have been studying French throughout my schooling career and I am currently at the end of my second year of university, achieving a 1st in my preliminary exams. I received my level 2 TEFL course, introducing me to the methodology behind lesson planning and how to teach language! I have previously tutored younger age groups (age 5-9), introducing them to a more dynamic side of language learning, because I think that classroom learning is not optimal for engagement. Teaching is a very possible career path for me, having completed work experience in schools, and next year, as part of my year abroad, I have been offered an internship to teach English in France.

About the lesson

I can tutor all the way up until A Level, despite having more experience with younger children, I own so many resources from my own learning journey that I feel confident across all ages. My method depends on age. I feel quite passionately that language teaching in the UK could be greatly improved. When working with younger children, repetition is key but through the use of dynamic games. Lessons revolve around a cycle of teaching, a game with the new content, and some form of checking for progress (flashcards). For older learners, I should like to base the content around their interests. There are so many ways to intake language, from films, music, news articles which interest them, which is part of why learning languages should be so fun!
