About Alisa
Hi! I’m a high school student who has always had a strong passion for math and enjoys helping others understand it. I have excelled in every math class I’ve taken and earned a 100 on the Algebra 1 Regents and a 96 on the Geometry Regents. I’m a patient and approachable person, and I understand that everyone learns differently, so I’m happy to adjust my explanations and teaching style to fit each student. I know that math can sometimes feel frustrating or confusing, and my goal is to make it feel much more manageable while helping students build confidence in their abilities. Outside of academics, I’m also a dedicated volleyball player, which has taught me discipline, communication, and how to work toward long-term goals.

My teaching approach focuses on making math understandable, practical, and less intimidating. I start each lesson by identifying what the student is struggling with, then explain the concept step-by-step using simple examples before working through problems together. A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by an explanation of the new topic, guided practice, and independent problems to make sure the student can apply what they learned on their own. What sets me apart is that I am a successful high school student myself, so I understand how math is taught in school and can explain concepts from a student’s perspective. My lessons are best suited for elementary, middle school and high school students who need help with math, including Algebra 1&2, Geometry, Regents preparation, homework, test preparation, and strengthening their overall math skills.
