About Owen

I'm Owen, a recent Saskatchewan high school graduate (Class of 2026) pursuing engineering at university. I finished Physics 30 with 86% and Pre-Calculus 30 with 85%, and I tutor the same math and science courses I just completed — so the curriculum and exam styles are fresh, not something I studied years ago.

Teaching is part of my work life, too: I spent 15 months as a crew trainer at McDonald's, where I was responsible for training new staff, and I currently work as a licensed hospital security guard — a role that requires a clean criminal record check. I'm patient, organized, and serious about showing up prepared for every lesson.

Hi, I'm Owen — a recent Saskatchewan high school graduate (Class of 2026) pursuing engineering at university, and I tutor the math and science courses I just finished myself.

MY APPROACH
I start by finding the exact step where a problem stops making sense, instead of re-teaching the whole unit. Most students who think they're "bad at math" are missing one or two small links — a fractions step from an earlier grade hiding inside a Grade 12 question. Once we find the missing link, we rebuild: I work an example while explaining my thinking out loud, then we solve problems together, then you solve them on your own while I watch where your process — not just your answer — goes off track. I focus on the "why" behind formulas, because a formula you understand survives exam stress, and one you only memorized doesn't.

A TYPICAL LESSON (1 HOUR)
We start with what your class covered this week and where your homework got stuck. Then we rebuild the concept with a worked example, move into guided practice, and finish with exam-style questions under light time pressure, a short written recap, and a few targeted practice problems so the skill is still there at the next lesson.

WHAT SETS ME APART
I sat these exact Saskatchewan courses months ago, not years ago — including 86% in Physics 30 and 85% in Pre-Calculus 30 — so I know the current curriculum, the question styles, and where part marks are won and lost. I've also worked 15 months as a crew trainer at McDonald's, where my job was teaching new staff step-by-step procedures until they could run them solo. Teaching people clearly and patiently is work I've literally been paid to do.

WHO THE LESSONS ARE FOR
Saskatchewan students in Grades 9–12: Mathematics (Foundations and Pre-Calculus pathways), Science 10, Chemistry 20 and 30, and Physics 20 and 30. Whether you're trying to rescue a grade or protect a prerequisite mark for university programs like engineering, nursing, or the sciences, the lessons are built around your course, your textbook, and your exam dates.
