About Julia

My family encouraged me to start playing chess ever since I was 4 years old and even though it was difficult at first, I soon started playing better and won my first local competition at 6. By 10 years old, I became a National Champion in Romania. In 2018, I moved to the UK to study and started a chess society in which I was the Vice-President and Coach. And ever since, I have been teaching students of all ages and levels, through group and private lessons, both face to face and online.

About the lesson

For over 8 years, I have been teaching students of all levels, in person (schools, universities, chess clubs) and from the comfort of their own homes. From 4 years old to 60+, I have extensive experience teaching children, teenagers and adults, specifically beginners and intermediate players. I have an Enhanced DBS check and a lot of experience working with students from SEND schools or with learning disabilities. I am calm, patient and will always structure my lessons around you or your children's needs and learning style, combining chess theory with fun examples, activities and puzzles. My lessons usually last between 30 and 60 minutes, with most students taking weekly or biweekly sessions in the evenings or weekends, but I am very flexible.
