About Jodi

I'm a BC Certified teacher with over twenty years of professional teaching experience in the public and private school systems.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, a Bachelor of Education in English and Drama, and a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Planning. Creating engaging and student-centred curriculum has always been my focus and I'm proud to bring a culmination of some of my most effective units to SuperProf.

Throughout my career I've introduced topics of bullying, discrimination, and racism into classroom lessons and community projects. I founded ImperativeEducation.org and offer social emotional learning workshops to families, school communities, and corporate clients.

I'm deeply committed to inspiring positive learning experiences and am proud to bring my passion to every student/client I'm fortunate to work with.

About the lesson

My lessons always have a lot of variety because life is too short to be bored!

LESSONS CAN INCLUDE:

- FREEWRITING - a timed writing practice which frees the inner 'writer' in each of us! It's fun and it works.

- Role-playing and various conversations to develop SOCIALIZATION SKILLS (reduce anxiety by simply chatting with me - don't worry, I'm pretty easy to chat with).

- Mastering the perfect ESSAY. I taught high school English, full-time, for a decade. During that time I mastered teaching how to write the perfect essay. The structure is essential to writing for academic, and all purposes.

- READING COMPREHENSION - I can choose super interesting short stories (or novels - depending on the amount of lessons) and we can deep dive into its literal and figurative meanings.

ALL LESSONS ARE CUSTOMIZED - INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLANS.
