About Autumn

Hello there! While I am not a professional language teacher, my work as an independent documentary filmmaker and background in anthropology has given me extensive experience using both Chinese and English.

Through my profession, I’ve come to understand how important it is to use language accurately, especially when communicating across different cultures. I aim to help you express yourself more clearly in Chinese and understand the language through its cultural context.

During my time studying in the UK and working on my first bilingual documentary, I developed a deep understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese and English. This experience has given me valuable insight into how to use and translate these languages effectively.

I’ve had the opportunity to screen my bilingual film worldwide, engaging in discussions with diverse audiences. This experience allowed me to connect with people from different cultures, exchanging ideas and learning from one another.

Additionally, I spent over a year helping a multilingual child learn Chinese, and I’ve noticed that the most effective language learning happens when it’s applied in real-life situations—whether in everyday conversations or work settings.

I hope that through interesting and meaningful discussions, you’ll gain more confidence in expressing yourself in Chinese!

Learning a language is a gradual journey. I’ve found that engaging in deep and thoughtful conversations not only helps us understand others but also gives us insight into ourselves and how we see the world.

About the lesson

As a bilingual filmmaker with a background in Anthropology, a former NHS interpreter and having spent over a year assisting a multilingual kid learning Mandarin, I've noticed that the most effective language learning happens when it is applied in real-life situations, whether in everyday conversations or work settings.

In my lessons, I tailor the approach to who you are and how you want to use Chinese to tell an engaging story. Don’t worry if you’re unsure what story to tell—I’ll help you discover the most effective way to improve the areas you need.
