About Ritu

Mathematics has always been more than just a subject to me—it is a way of thinking, reasoning, and solving problems. Over the past 5+ years, I have had the privilege of teaching students from diverse academic backgrounds and helping them develop both confidence and competence in mathematics.

I specialize in international curricula, including Cambridge IGCSE, AS & A Level, IB MYP, IB DP, GCSE, SATs, and NAPLAN. My experience includes teaching students from the United Kingdom, Australia, and other international regions, allowing me to develop a strong understanding of different curriculum requirements, assessment styles, and learning needs.

As an educator, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically. I believe that genuine understanding is more valuable than memorization, and I work closely with students to build strong conceptual foundations while preparing them effectively for examinations.

About the lesson

I believe that every student can succeed in mathematics when concepts are presented clearly and connected to meaningful applications. My teaching approach combines inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and exam-focused preparation to develop both conceptual understanding and academic success.

Each 60-minute lesson begins with a brief prior knowledge check to assess understanding and identify any misconceptions. I then introduce the new topic and guide students through concept building using carefully structured explanations and worked examples. Wherever possible, I connect mathematical ideas to real-world situations so that students can appreciate the relevance and practical applications of what they are learning.

As the lesson progresses, students engage with progressively challenging questions that encourage critical thinking and mathematical reasoning. A significant focus is placed on past-paper and exam-style questions to help students become familiar with assessment requirements, improve problem-solving strategies, and build confidence in tackling unfamiliar questions. Every lesson concludes with reflection and review to consolidate learning and identify areas for further improvement.

My greatest strength as a teacher is simplifying complex mathematical concepts and making them accessible to learners of varying abilities. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring different solution methods, and developing independent thinking skills.
