About Teodora

I am a recent multimedia journalism graduate with specialist writing and multimedia production skills. Originally from Romania, but already well-travelled, having had a semester exchange in the US and been involved in mobility programmes funded by Erasmus+ throughout Europe, I would like to use my passion for telling stories as a method to teach young adults.

I've got an IELTS & Cambridge certificate that prove my proficiency in English. I am confident to speak, write and understand both French & German at an intermediate level and of course, I am fluent in Romanian since this is my mother tongue. Languages are not my only passion - as stated above, I love stories of any kind, hence my decision to study and pursue a career in journalism.

LATEST achievement: tutoring a 16-year old for her English GSCE exam this year (2019) and getting her score three levels higher than her mock exam predicted.

Other achievements: working for Chance for Life and Shakespeare School associations and preparing young adults aged 14 for their GCSEs in English. Four out of seven children took an A* and the other three As.

Having moved to London three years ago, I still continue to volunteer or teach children and this way give something back to the society. For three months I helped a non-profit organisation, the Hackney Pirates, to develop the literacy and numeracy skills of children aged eight to thirteen-year-old.

Also, I completed a placement with Westminster Academy and I am a teaching assistant for the following subjects: media studies & English.

About the lesson

I approach each topic based on the type of memory each student has - visual, auditory or kinesthetic?
Does she/he learn better listening to an audio piece, watching a movie or drawing maps? Therefore I adjust my materials and resources according to that in order to maximise the learning time.
Also, at the end of the lesson, the last 5 minutes are dedicated to a short recap/ a small quiz from the previous lesson to ensure that the information was not forgotten.
