About Ghiyath
I am a native Arabic speaker and a postgraduate of the University of London, where I studied marketing and consumer behaviour — which is really the study of how people think and what moves them. That turns out not to be far from teaching a language.
I came to teaching Arabic from research rather than from a textbook. So I am less interested in having you repeat words back to me, and more interested in showing you the system underneath them. Once you can see that system, Arabic stops feeling like memorising and starts feeling like reading a map.
I teach adults, patiently, and I do not rush people. If you have tried Arabic before and stopped, that is almost always a sign of how it was taught — not a sign of how well you can learn it.

Arabic
Arabic looks harder than it is, and the reason most people give up in the first month is not difficulty. It is that they were taught it backwards — vocabulary lists, before the system that generates the vocabulary.
Arabic is built on roots. Three letters carry a core meaning, and dozens of words grow out of them in patterns you can learn. Once you see the system, words stop being things you memorise one at a time and start being things you can predict. Most learners are never told this.
I am a native speaker with a postgraduate degree from the University of London, and I teach adults — not children. So we work on what you actually need: speaking with family, working in the Gulf, reading, or understanding what you hear around you.
In the first lesson we agree exactly what you want to be able to do — and you will read your first real Arabic words in that same lesson.
Lessons cover: the alphabet and reading, quickly and without pain · the root system, which is the key that makes Arabic learnable · spoken Arabic for real situations, with an honest explanation of the difference between Modern Standard and dialect · listening · writing.
Whatever your reason for starting, you are learning the language of four hundred million people — and being welcomed in someone's own language changes the conversation.
