About Pascale
I have loved living in Australia for over 20 years now. I immigrated from Kent in England, which is close to the French coast, and today I am lucky to have British-French-Australian triple citizenship.
I have always been a passionate Francophile thanks to my French mom, Christine, who shared her culture, language, fashion, home and family from south-west France with me through my formative years.
I decided to join Superprof because I enjoy spending time with people who are motivated to learn French and enthusiastic to know more about France. My parents were teachers of English and French which has influenced how I approach life and learning.
I would like to share my passion for all things French and my lived experience of France in an accessible way that helps students of French learn and improve their language skills, increase their confidence with conversation through repetition and imitation as well as gain further general cultural knowledge.
EDUCATION
I completed a four-year Bachelor of Arts Combined Honors degree in French and Fine Art from the University of Exeter, with an integral third year abroad in France at École Européenne Supérieure d’art de Bretagne (EESAB), Rennes (Brittany). Study highlights beyond learning the language included the French Revolution, Romanticism, De Gaulle, French Culture since 1945, Fiction as Film, Representations of Women and a dissertation on the Right to Strike.
WORK
After graduating, I worked in a bilingual customer service role for international high-speed rail operator, Eurostar, which connects passengers to Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK through the Channel Tunnel. I loved this job where I worked with other French speakers and I traveled by rail as much as I could to see more of Europe. Before moving my life to Australia, I also managed French speaking sales accounts in the interior design industry.
TRAVEL
I have been fortunate to have visited many places in France through education, work and holidays. Places I have spent time in include: Calais, Boulogne-sur-mer, Hardelot-Plage, Le Touquet, Etaples, Arras, Lille, Dormans, Reims, Metz, Nancy, Strasbourg, Marne-la Vallée (Disneyland Paris), Paris, Versailles, Rouen, Cherbourg, Fougères, Le Mans, Rennes, Dinan, Saint-Malo, Dinard, Mont Saint-Michel, Vannes, Quiberon, Belle-Ile, Nantes, Chasseneuil-du-Poitou (Futuroscope), Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Avignon, Oradour-sur-Glane, Castres, Mazamet, Lasfaillades, Brassac, Lacaune, Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, Pont du Gard, Nimes, Montpellier, Béziers, Cap d’Agde, Carcassone, Narbonne, Gruissan, Leucate, Le Barcarès, Canet-en-Roussillon, Perpignan, Saint-Cyprien, Argelès-sur-mer, Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-mer, Cerbère, Laroque-des-Albères, Le Perthus, Le Boulou, Montauriol, Thuir, Céret, Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda, Prats de Mollo, Prades, Villefrance de Conflent, Saint Martin du Canigou
FUN FACTS
I have been slowly growing my t-shirt collection with slogans in (correct) French! My first French word as a small child was “merde”! I am hoping for the day that Emily in Paris breaks into fluent French!
MY LOVES
Other than French, as a visual artist, I love to draw and paint, spend time in nature (especially at the sea), travel to new places, hang out with my family and friends, change up interiors, listen to music, watch TV, read and research my family history.

I like to start the first lesson with a short welcome followed by some reading in French to establish your starting level. I will then adapt the lessons to suit your needs.
Speaking is the absolute best way to learn a language so my focus is on conversational French where you can improve and learn through imitation and repetition.
I am also happy to share my experiences in France and with the French customs to bridge the cultural differences if you are planning a trip there soon!
Lesson duration: 1 hour.
