Book ESL tutoring in Sydney

The average price for an ESL lesson in Sydney is around $23/h.

Pricing depends on a few key elements:

• The student's level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• The teacher's credentials and background (TESL Canada certification, university degree, years teaching)
• The length and frequency of sessions (single lessons or package deals)
• The lesson format (online, in-person at home, or at a public space)

Many tutors offer discounted packages for regular students, which can lower the hourly cost over time.

ESL programs typically follow the CEFR, a six-level framework from A1 to C2.

• A1 (Beginner): You can introduce yourself, ask basic questions, and understand slow, clear speech.
• A2 (Elementary): You manage everyday tasks: shopping, booking appointments, asking for directions.
• B1 (Intermediate): You express opinions, tell stories, and understand the main points of clear speech.
• B2  (Upper-Intermediate): You handle professional emails, presentations, and academic reading.
• C1 (Advanced): You produce clear, well-structured writing on complex subjects.
• C2 (Proficient): You comprehend virtually everything heard or read.

One-on-one lessons let you focus on the skills each level demands without rushing or waiting.

Top-rated teachers are known for flexibility, encouragement, and practical conversation practice.

The four skills of ESL are listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

• Listening: comprehending native speakers at natural speed, from casual chat to formal presentations. Listening is often called the first gateway to fluency.
• Speaking: producing clear, confident English in everyday and professional situations. Regular conversation practice turns passive knowledge into active output.
• Reading: building the input that fuels vocabulary growth and grammatical intuition. Reading exposes you to sentence structures you can later use in speech and writing.
• Writing: organizing ideas, choosing precise words, and following English conventions. Feedback from a tutor helps you spot patterns in your errors.

A private ESL tutor balances all four skills based on your goals, whether you need English for work, study, or daily life.
