Find private skating lessons in Montreal

Ice skating lessons in Montreal typically cost about $37/h per session.

Prices fluctuate based on:

• The student's level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• The instructor's experience and certifications (years of teaching, competition history, specialized training)
• Session duration and frequency (single lessons versus multi-week programs)
• The type of instruction (private one-on-one, semi-private, or group classes)

Look for introductory offers or first-lesson discounts to test the fit before committing.

A large share of our skating teachers provide a complimentary first session to help you decide.

It usually takes around 8 to 10 sessions to build basic skating confidence.

Your journey on the ice happens in stages:

• Basic balance and gliding: about a month to feel steady, stop safely, and turn smoothly
• Building technique: half a year to a full year for controlled turns and backward movement
• Advanced maneuvers: multiple seasons of practice to land basic spins or perform quick stops

Adults may take a bit longer, but consistent weekly lessons close the gap.

Tip: weekly practice sessions accelerate your improvement more than sporadic lessons.

Skating coaches in Montreal are rated 5⭐ on average, reflecting their high teaching quality.

The rating comes from 6 authentic evaluations left by learners.

Students often highlight:

• Supportive coaching that builds confidence
• Step-by-step guidance on posture and stopping
• Accommodation for busy family or work schedules
• Noticeable progress after just a few sessions

Check student comments to select the perfect match for your skill level and objectives.

Good coaching combined with the right technique makes all the difference.

Follow this progression for the best results:

• Bend your knees, not your waist: soft knees absorb bumps and help you recover from wobbles
• Keep your head up: your body follows your eyes, so gaze where you want to go
• Practice falling safely: a controlled fall onto your hip protects your hands and head
• Begin with marching: swizzles teach edge control by pushing outward in a V shape

Group lessons offer peer support, while private sessions allow faster, personalized feedback.

Consistency matters more than marathon practices.
