About Nilton
I've been involved in music from when I was 5 when I first started learning the Piano, and when I was 6 I started learning the Double Bass. I have had my ups and downs with music, as I think most musicians do, when they tend to give up or become demotivated to study further. I think this is an important issue, especially when students don't particulary understand how this piece of music may relate to them. From a compositional perspective its important to remember that composers often pour their emotions into their music, and once people begin to understand that, like me they gain this resonance with the music they are hearing and a desire to understand why it sounds like that. Having studied music for long I've come to realise that what any music student needs is inspiration, because ultimately students don't take initiative for their study if they aren't inspired by their subject.

I am student based in London currently studying Music A-level, I have attained a 9 in Music GCSE and I have achieved grade 8 in Piano and Double Bass. I am also currently studying for a diploma in Organ. I studied at Guildhall for 11 years in which I learned a Music History and a large variety of musical techniques, primarily involving composition.
Having gone through my musical education I can understand students problems. Demotivation is common and something I wish to change through inspiration. My teaching style is quite interactive and since music is such a inclusive subject it is important to help students understand theory on their interpretation of the music they are hearing.
In terms of qualifications I can help with, I can teach grade 1-6 music theory, composition (from starting off to GCSE and A-level), as well as any historical knowledge needed to supplement learning. I can also help to tutor GCSE music not only the compositional aspect.
All my lessons will be online, however I have access to notation software to easily show students what they're looking at as well as a piano if I may need to play an example for instance. Lesson length can be from 30 minutes to an 1hr and half, depending on time of day and day of the week.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I am an old friend of Nilton’s. We used to study Biological sciences together for our A levels. I had some difficulties studying some of the subject matter, though Nilton did clear a lot of misconceptions up for me.
He is good at explaining, making hard concepts simpler to understand making the topic easy to memorise.View more recommendations
