About Laura
I am an enthusiastic and understanding tutor who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I am empathetic and having taught A-level students for 15 years, I’m very aware of the pressures they are under and how quickly the two years pass.
I have taught in a variety of schools; most recently, an outstanding grammar school, where I was the head of psychology for three years, and previously the head of sociology for five years. My department achieved excellent results with students going on to study at competitive universities.
I specialise in tutoring, sociology and psychology students and have examining experience with the know-how of what examiners looking for.

My sessions are aimed at A-Level Psychology and Sociology students taking the AQA specification.
My teaching approach is about building confidence; I start by checking understanding of key concepts, then build up to shorter answers then finally work on extended writing skills, ensuring all essential assessment objectives are met.
It is important to be prepared for exam type questions, so these are regularly introduced along with looking at mark schemes, and examiner commentaries with the aim of “getting in the head of the examiner”!
For high achievers, the focus is on 'standing out', making sure answers hit the highest bands and encouraging wider reading to gain a greater depth of understanding.
Sessions last an hour.
