About Tanya
I'm a fully qualified and experienced psychology teacher, specialising in AQA A-Level and GCSE Psychology. My love of psychology has continued to grow through teaching it for 4 years and I feel confident in my knowledge to help my students achieve the grade they desire. I have a strong track record of helping students improve their grades through engaging, structured, and exam-focused lessons. My approach to teaching psychology is student-centred, exam-focused, and rooted in cognitive science principles such as retrieval practice, dual coding, and spaced learning. I aim to build both subject knowledge and exam technique through clear explanations, active recall, regular low-stakes testing, and lots of practice with real AQA-style questions. Lessons are interactive, adaptive to the student’s pace, and structured to develop independent thinking and confidence in applying psychological concepts.
The lesson may include -
Recap & Retrieval Practice: Brief quiz or discussion to revisit previous content and activate prior knowledge.
Concept Introduction/Review: Clear explanation of the key topic for the session, using examples and visual aids
Independent Practice: Student works on exam-style questions or tasks independently with targeted feedback.
Review & Next Steps: Go over key takeaways, address misconceptions, and set revision or follow-up tasks.
