About Jethro
Hi, I’m Jethro, a Licensed Professional Teacher and experienced chess coach dedicated to helping students become stronger, more confident, and more thoughtful chess players.
I have experience teaching students across different age groups and skill levels, from complete beginners to developing tournament players. As a teacher, I understand that every student learns differently, so I make my lessons clear, structured, practical, and adapted to each student’s current level and goals.
In my chess lessons, I focus on building strong fundamentals first, then developing tactical awareness, strategic thinking, calculation, and practical decision-making. I also use real games and positions to help students understand how chess concepts apply during actual play.
My goal is not simply to teach students what move to play. I want them to understand why a move is good, learn how to analyze positions independently, and develop the confidence to make decisions on their own.
Whether you are completely new to chess or already participating in tournaments, I will provide patient guidance, structured training, and constructive feedback throughout your learning journey.

Hello, I’m Jethro, a Licensed Professional Teacher and experienced chess coach. My goal is to help students not only learn how the pieces move, but also understand how to think, calculate, and make better decisions during a game.
My teaching approach is personalized and practical. I adjust each lesson according to the student’s current chess level, strengths, weaknesses, and goals. I combine clear explanations, board demonstrations, guided exercises, tactical puzzles, game analysis, and practical play to make each lesson engaging and useful.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous topics, followed by the main lesson for the day. We then work through examples and guided exercises before applying the concept in actual positions or games. I also give appropriate homework or puzzles so students can continue developing their skills between lessons.
What sets me apart is my background as both a professional teacher and chess coach. I focus not only on chess knowledge but also on critical thinking, patience, discipline, decision-making, and problem-solving. I want students to understand the reasons behind their moves rather than simply memorize variations.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate players, and students preparing for school or tournament competitions. Whether you are learning chess for the first time, improving your fundamentals, or working toward becoming a stronger competitive player, I can structure the lessons around your individual goals and current level.
