About Elena
"For the past 6 years, I have helped students discover that piano is more than notes on a page. My background includes a Licentiate of Music in Piano, and it has shaped the way I bring music to life. I love connecting literature, imagery, and storytelling with every piece we play.
A melody can feel like a quiet sunrise, while a simple chord can remind us of a favorite memory. I often ask students to imagine the story behind a piece before they touch the keys. One student once described a gentle prelude as a walk through the rain, and that image completely changed the warmth of their performance.
Together, we explore mood, symbolism, and phrasing through repertoire that invites emotion and imagination. "My teaching focuses on helping students play with comfort, confidence, and genuine expression. We begin with seated posture, relaxed hand arches, and smooth movement across the keyboard. These simple habits make playing feel more natural and reduce unnecessary tension.
I use body awareness and calm focus to build technique that supports long term progress. Visual thinking strategies also help students picture musical shapes before they play them. For example, I sometimes ask students to imagine a flowing river when moving through a lyrical passage because it encourages smoother phrasing.
As students grow, I guide them towards expressive control while developing accuracy and musical understanding. Some learners enjoy careful preparation for demanding classical works, while others are excited to explore creative styles, rhythmic freedom, and personal interpretation. I adapt every lesson so each student feels supported at the right pace.
My goal is to help students play with ease, meaning, and confidence instead of tension or uncertainty. I believe steady guidance, mindful practice, and creative imagination help every pianist develop a lasting connection with music."
