Lisa - Maths

Lisa taught maths to IGCSE and A Level standard for three years at Abbey College. I was her head of department.
Lisa was well organised with a very good understanding of the subject to advanced level and a genuine interest in maths which she conveyed well to the students. She was new to teaching and made considerable progress in learning how to manage a class. Our student body posed few significant disciplinary challenges but many students did have some language difficulties, being EFL students. Lisa had a good background in EFL and coped well with this.
Lisa left the college because we did not have enough work to continue to offer her employment and she undertook a DTLLS course. As her former department head, I was asked to be involved with her monitoring and witnessed further improvement in her teaching skills, particularly with small groups and individuals, where I believe her skills are best employed.
I know of no reason why Lisa should not be employed working with young and/or vulnerable persons.
