About Emily
I have been an English tutor for 4 years, and throughout this time span have taught a total of 7 students. Although they all had different levels of knowledge and skills I was able to increase their confidence and ability to achieve high grades in their exams. I am most proud of a French speaking student, who achieved an A in her English Literature exam for the International Baccalaureate.

I am an adaptable, enthusiastic and passionate teacher. At first I work with my students to establish their goals, and then make a rigorous plan that will allow them to achieve it. Likewise I observe the mannerisms and how my students respond to my teaching, and constantly adapt my style for a more engaging experience.
For example, when I was preparing one of my students for her English Baccalaureate, she was very worried about writing an essay in a timed environment without knowing the question beforehand. Thus we established the key themes and quotations from the texts she needed to revise and we practiced different methods that would allow her to mold her ideas into an essay. Thus, despite the challenging nature of the exam was able to be prepared and achieve a high grade.
I am well read and always make sure that I have researched the area of study that my students are working on. As someone who has completed a Higher Level English Literature course in my International Baccalaureate I have extensive experience in essay writing, close reading, oral examinations and critical commentaries.
