About Roman
My name is Roman. I am coming on 20 and currently studying Law at the London School of Economics.
I want to teach because I believe the right guidance at the right time can change everything. I was lucky enough to have teachers who pushed me, challenged my thinking, and refused to let me settle for less than my best. I want to be that person for someone else.
English shaped me. It is the subject that taught me how to think — not just how to pass an exam. When I directed my school play, I had to interpret a script and communicate a vision to a cast. When I competed in debating, I had to construct arguments under pressure and defend them clearly. When I marshalled at Guilford Crown Court, I watched barristers do the same thing at the highest level. Everything connects back to the skills I first developed in an English classroom.
Outside of academics, I have spent two years working in London hospitality — long shifts, demanding customers, unpredictable environments. I have also volunteered in care homes and at Camden Charities, where I supported people affected by the Windrush scandal. These experiences taught me how to listen properly, how to adapt and how to treat people with patience and respect. I carry that into every lesson.
I am still a student myself. I know what it feels like to sit exams, to doubt yourself, to wonder if you have revised enough. But through my own experiences; the successes and the setbacks, I have figured out what works. What brings me to tutor English is a genuine belief that I can make it more straightforward and more enjoyable. I want to pass on what I have learned, the shortcuts, the strategies, the ways of thinking that turn what many students find daunting into something manageable. No student should have to figure it all out alone.

Confidence is the starting block. Something I still work on every day. I know what it feels like to sit in front of a text and not know where to begin. That's exactly the feeling I help students move past.
My goal is simple: results. But not just in the classroom. I want students to walk into their exam feeling prepared and capable, yes — but I also want the skills we build together to show up in everyday life. The ability to articulate a thought clearly, to structure an argument, to read carefully and respond thoughtfully. These are skills that matter far beyond a mark scheme.
To get there, I don't lecture or hand students answers. I ask the right questions, guide them towards their own interpretations, and build the analytical habits that examiners reward — and that stay with them long after the exam is over.
For younger students preparing for Common Entrance or the 11+, I focus on strong foundations: comprehension strategies, vocabulary, and purposeful creative writing.
For GCSE students, I'm more strategic. We dissect mark schemes, drill timed responses, and I teach the techniques that helped me achieve a 9 at GCSE and an A* at A-Level. Every session has a clear objective.
Lessons typically last an hour, with longer sessions available closer to exams/tests for full paper practice.
To parents: my aim is to meet and surely exceed whatever expectations you set. I take this seriously. I communicate openly, track progress carefully, and adjust my approach when needed.
I welcome all abilities so please feel free to get in touch and we can book an introductory session.
