About Maryam

Hello! I'm Maryam, a Chinese Language Translation graduate from Cairo University with a passion for languages, teaching, and cultural exchange.

My journey with Mandarin has taken me beyond the classroom. I was awarded two scholarships to study in China: a Confucius Institute Scholarship at Tianjin Foreign Studies University and a Chinese Government Scholarship at Shanghai International Studies University. Studying and living in China gave me valuable firsthand experience with the language, culture, and everyday communication.

In addition to my academic background, I have professional experience as an interpreter, which has strengthened my communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to explain complex ideas clearly.

As a tutor, I strive to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to each student's goals, pace, and learning style.

Whether you're starting from scratch, preparing for the HSK, learning Mandarin for work or travel, or simply exploring a new language, I'm here to help you build confidence and enjoy the learning process. I look forward to supporting you on your Mandarin journey!

About the lesson

Learning Mandarin can feel challenging at first, but I believe the best way to learn is by building confidence step by step in a supportive and encouraging environment.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Chinese Language Translation from Cairo University and have been fortunate to study in China through two scholarships. The first was a Confucius Institute Scholarship at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and the second was a Chinese Government Scholarship at Shanghai International Studies University. These experiences allowed me to strengthen my language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and everyday communication.

My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, whether you're learning Mandarin for school, work, travel, HSK preparation, or personal interest. A typical lesson includes vocabulary, grammar, speaking practice, listening exercises, and practical conversations that help you use Mandarin with confidence.

I believe learning a language should be interactive and enjoyable, so I focus on helping students understand the language rather than simply memorizing it. I also share cultural insights and study tips that helped me throughout my own learning journey.

My lessons are suitable for beginners as well as students who already have some knowledge of Mandarin and would like to improve their speaking, listening, reading, or overall fluency. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where every student can progress at their own pace while enjoying the process.
