About Shyla
Hi! My name is Shyla. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at National Louis University and will graduate in May 2019. In 2009 I graduated from Indiana State University with my Bachelor's degree in marketing communications. However, my heart truly lies in teaching and working with children and I am excited to begin doing what I love and what I am passionate about every day!

My focus is on working with students at the elementary level. Elementary students generally learn best from hands-on activities. For instance, students will most likely have difficulty understanding the concept of reading if it is just explained to them. But if they begin experimenting with words and sounds and practicing how to combine them, they will understand it better and recall how it works.
