Hi there, I’m Mengshi, Your Chinese Private Tutor!

I was born and raised in China and moved to Houston, USA in 2023. With 8 years of experience as an English teacher in China, I have taught students of all ages—from young learners as an elementary school English teacher to university students as a college English instructor. Now, I’m excited to help you learn Chinese in a way that is engaging, practical, and tailored to your needs!

College English Instructor (2 years): I designed and taught university-level courses, including English comprehensive reading, speaking, and translation.
Chinese Tutor for Beginners: I helped my students develop their Mandarin skills through interactive and personalized lessons.

With my education background in English and Chinese translation and interpreting, along with my experience working as an interpreter and translator in international business exhibitions like OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) in Houston and MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Shanghai, I have developed strong communication skills that help me teach languages effectively, and those experience also deepened my understanding of professional and industry-specific language use.

I love learning new things, meeting people from different backgrounds, and exploring new cultures. Every day, I continue learning so I can be a better teacher for you! In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, camping, and discovering new places.

My class is interactive and practical, based on the textbooks, but focusing more on helping students communicate with Chinese people. I will make the class tailored to your learning goals. No matter for travelling or for preparing official Chinese tests, you will find help from me.

Karoleena is an amazing student! She is conversational in Chinese and wants to improve her speaking.
