About Harry
I am a master student in East Asian Studies at UCLA that will graduate in June of 2024. I specialize in modern and contemporary Chinese literature and culture, especially contemporary Chinese popular culture. I also hold B.A. in Chinese and B.A. in Linguistics & Asian Languages and Cultures at UCLA. I have formal language teaching training at UCLA, specifically surrounding communicative approach and on the textbook---Integrated Chinese. My linguistics training also allows me to deconstruct complex structures for students.

I teach Chinese for all levels and all ages. For young learners, I adopt the communicative and task-based approach to promote the understanding of meaning while simultaneously acquire vocabulary and grammar points and not neglecting the technical aspects of the language, such as pronunciation.
For high school Chinese, I focus on key points in the textbook and prepare students to ace their exams, such as AP or class exams. I break down key concepts for students in an intuitive way for them to remember.
For adult learners and Chinese for special purposes, I tailor my teaching to your need. Whether that be communicating with native speakers in China, comprehending online discourses, or Chinese for business/traveling, I have abundant authentic resources to fit your need.
