About Summer

About Me: 25 Years of Educational Excellence & Proven Student Success
Choosing the right tutor is an investment in your future. With a Master’s Degree in Education and a B.A. in Psychology, I bring nearly 25 years of professional teaching and mentorship to every session. Since 1999, I have dedicated my career to helping students navigate the complexities of academia, including 17 years as a High School ELA lead teacher.

My background in Psychology allows me to do what most tutors cannot: I identify the specific cognitive and emotional barriers that hold a student back. Whether it is "test anxiety" for the ISEE, TACHS, HESI, or TEAS, or a technical hurdle in Bluebeam or AI integration, I provide the strategic tools necessary to bridge the gap between "struggling" and "mastery."

Why Trust Your Education to Me?
Decades of Experience: I have spent over two decades in the classroom, meaning I understand curriculum standards and what graders are actually looking for.

Versatility & Depth: I have successfully tutored over 100 subjects. My expertise ranges from the nuances of French I and Psychology to the technical demands of Computer Literacy and Mathematics.

Results-Oriented: My approach is tailored, professional, and disciplined. I don't just help you finish your homework; I help you master the material so you can perform under pressure.

Modern Edge: I stay at the forefront of educational technology, specializing in AI and Bluebeam, ensuring my students are prepared for the modern workforce.

Education is not one-size-fits-all. You deserve an educator who has the experience to adapt to your specific needs and the credentials to ensure you reach your goals. I look forward to helping you unlock your full potential.

My Approach: Where the Psychology of Learning Meets 25 Years of Classroom Master

With over two decades in the classroom and a Master’s in Education, I don’t just teach subjects; I teach students. My background in Psychology allows me to identify cognitive roadblocks and anxiety triggers that often prevent students from reaching their full potential, especially in high-stakes testing environments like the ISEE, TACHS, TEAS, or HESI.

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I utilize a Scaffolded Learning approach. I break down complex concepts - whether it’s a difficult ELA passage, Essay Writing/Editing, a technical Bluebeam workflow, or an AI prompt - into manageable "digestible" segments.

Metacognition: I teach students to understand how they think, turning them into independent problem-solvers.

Adaptive Instruction: Using my Psychology background, I pivot my delivery style (visual, auditory, or kinesthetic) in real-time based on the student's engagement levels.

Tech-Integrated Learning: I leverage AI and modern software tools to make traditional subjects like History and Science feel relevant and interactive.

A Typical Lesson Plan
The "Check-In" (5 mins): We review previous concepts and address any "pain points" encountered during independent study.

The Bridge (10 mins): I introduce the new objective, connecting it to something the student already knows.

Active Guided Practice (25 mins): We tackle problems or text together. I use the "I Do, We Do, You Do" model to build confidence.

The Mastery Check (15 mins): The student takes the lead to demonstrate their understanding of the day’s goal.

Wrap-Up & Roadmap (5 mins): We summarize the "Big Ideas" and set the objective for our next session.

What Sets Me Apart
I am a "Full-Spectrum Educator." Most tutors specialize in one niche; however, my 17 years as a High School ELA teacher combined with my proficiency in technical software (Bluebeam, AI, Microsoft, Google) and healthcare exams (HESI/TEAS) means I can support a student’s entire academic journey. I bring the rigor of a veteran teacher with the empathy of a counselor.

Who These Lessons Are For
Because of my extensive range, I work with a diverse array of learners:

K-12 Students: Mastery in ELA, Math, Science, and History.

High School & College Applicants: Specialized prep for ISEE, TACHS, and SATs.

Nursing & Professional Candidates: Targeted coaching for HESI and TEAS exams.

Adult Learners & Professionals: Training in Bluebeam, AI integration, and Computer Literacy.
