About Isabel

I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my teaching. Earlier in my academic journey, I experienced challenges with math myself, which allows me to truly relate to students who may feel frustrated or lack confidence. Over time, I not only overcame those difficulties, but developed a strong foundation and a genuine enjoyment of math that I now share with my students.
With over 17 years of teaching experience and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education, I help students not only master content, but also build confidence, improve test-taking skills, and manage their time effectively. I also guide students in using tools like calculators and Desmos to perform their best on standardized tests.

About the lesson

I am a certified math teacher with over 17 years of experience teaching in Florida public schools, and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from Florida Atlantic University. I specialize in helping students succeed in:
Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and SAT Preparation
As a tutor, I begin by assessing each student's current level of understanding to identify strengths and areas for growth. Based on this assessment I design a personalized learning plan focused on building a strong mathematical foundation. From there, I guide students through key vocabulary, concepts, and problem-solving processes aligned with their course standards. I typically begin with simpler examples, then gradually progress to more complex problems that may involve multiple steps, connections between topics, and real-world applications.
My teaching approach emphasizes clear explanations, structured progression, and supportive guidance. With pacing and carefully selected practice, I help students build both competence and confidence in math. What sets me apart is my combination of over 17 years of classroom experience, a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education, and my ability to teach in both English and Spanish. My ultimate goal is for students not only to improve their performance, but also to develop confidence and experience the satisfaction of truly understanding math.
