About Rosaleen

Hi, I'm Rosaleen!

I am a passionate STEM tutor with over six years of experience helping students ace Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science! I hold a degree in Computer Science & Statistics from McGill University and have spent years guiding learners of all ages, from middle and high school students building core confidence to university learners tackling complex quantitative courses.

As a woman in STEM, I place immense value on empowering others academically. STEM subjects are so often framed as intimidating barriers reserved only for "naturally gifted" minds, but I firmly believe quantitative skills shouldn't be an exclusive club. Maths and science are tools for understanding the world, and everyone deserves an approach that makes these concepts accessible, intuitive, and genuinely empowering.

Having spent years navigating abstract theoretical topics myself, I know first-hand how frustrating it can be when a concept just isn't clicking. That’s why I focus on building understanding from the ground up, moving away from dry formula memorisation and toward real problem-solving intuition.

If you (or your child) are naturally shy, please don't worry at all! So many of my students start off quiet or hesitant, but I take pride in creating a warm, zero-pressure environment where even the most reserved learners quickly feel comfortable opening up, chatting, and asking questions freely. Making mistakes is embraced as a natural, celebrated part of growth here! :)

I also have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD and Autism, adapting my pacing, visual breakdowns, and structure to match how your brain works best.

Whether we're breaking down calculus problems, decoding chemistry equations, debugging code, or prepping for a big exam, I cater every lesson to your pace and goals.

(When I’m not writing articles or analysing data, you’ll usually find me working on hands-on creative projects like crocheting, reading, writing poetry, or playing a game of chess! )

There is no one-size-fits-all in education. Every student’s brain works differently, and I cater every single lesson to what you need and how you learn best.

For visual learners: We can work with interactive diagrams, clear visual breakdowns, and helpful video explanations. ‍
For tactile and hands-on thinkers: We can focus on active practice, running through plenty of step-by-step exercises to build real muscle memory. ️
For the creatively inclined: I'll create analogies tied directly to what you care about, explaining complex concepts through your favourite film, hobbies, or games! ♟️
For students who are neurodivergent: I make sure to create a calm, judgement-free space tailored to your pacing and focus style! This means we focus on chunking tasks, building momentum without overwhelm, and predictable lesson structures.

If you or your child require any accommodations, please feel free to let me know! :)
