About Mansa
Hello! I’m a dedicated and passionate tutor with a B.A. in Cinema and Television from Morehouse College, where I graduated summa cum laude and top of my class. My academic journey has always been rooted in a love for storytelling—and for me, history is the greatest story ever told. My background in history is both rigorous and award-winning. I took AP U.S. History II and AP World History in high school, scoring a 4 and 5 respectively on the national AP exams. I also won back-to-back state history competitions, which deepened my understanding of historical research, analysis, and communication. I bring the same level of discipline and enthusiasm to every tutoring session—whether helping a student prep for an AP exam, understand world events, or see the connections between film and history. I focus on making history come alive through engaging, structured lessons tailored to each learner’s needs. If you're looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, reliable, and genuinely invested in your success—look no further.

My Teaching Method & Techniques
I believe history is more than just dates and names—it’s a living, breathing story that shapes who we are today.
My approach focuses on storytelling, critical thinking, and contextual understanding.
I incorporate primary sources, film clips, historical documents, and pop culture references to make lessons engaging and relevant.
Whether we’re discussing the Harlem Renaissance, WWII, or the rise of Hollywood, I guide students to ask deeper questions: Why did this happen? Who did it impact? How does it echo today?
I adapt to each student’s learning style—whether visual, auditory, or discussion-based.
We may break down a film scene to discuss Cold War propaganda or analyze a political cartoon to understand the Civil Rights Movement.
I aim to foster curiosity and confidence through conversation and connection.
A Typical Lesson Plan Includes:
Quick Warm-Up: A fun historical fact, quote, or media clip to set the tone.
Review: Go over previous material and clarify any confusion.
Main Focus: Deep-dive into a topic (e.g., the Vietnam War, Ancient Empires, or Hollywood’s Golden Age) with guided discussion and visual materials.
Interactive Element: Timeline-building, source analysis, debate prep, or short writing exercise.
Wrap-Up & What’s Next: Recap and a preview of the next topic, often with a reflection question or optional extra reading/viewing.
Each session is tailored to the student’s curriculum needs, personal interests, and pace.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I teach history like a filmmaker tells a story—visually, emotionally, and intellectually.
I blend traditional history with pop culture and media literacy, helping students make cross-disciplinary connections.
I focus on empathy, nuance, and perspective—skills essential not just in exams but in life.
I’m deeply passionate about the 20th century, particularly U.S. history, global conflicts, civil rights, and how history is reflected in film and media.
I also bring experience in media criticism and storytelling, which means I can help students analyze, not just memorize.
