About Andrew
While studying Plastics Engineering at University of Massachusetts, I discovered a love for Science, Mathematics, and Teaching. I was fortunate enough to work as a research and development engineer and later as a teacher in the local school system. After I received my Master's Degree, I decided to become an entrepreneur to build a career that allows me to combine my passion for the environment with my love for science and engineering. Tutoring is a way that I can make money part time to support my experiments in construction material properties while staying sharp on all the subjects I've learned over the years. I certainly enjoy teaching and feel very rewarded to be able to help someone learn something new!

I use an inquiry-based teaching approach which involves asking questions so that I can help the student understand the subject in their own way. Everyone thinks differently, so I may explain things in a few different ways; with words, pictures, or an example using something that is relatable. I really love teaching and I believe that anyone can learn just about anything if they have the right instruction.
A lesson will typically begin with a conversation, where I might ask questions to find out more about your knowledge, and then go from there. I may make up practice problems, draw a diagram, show an example, or any number of things depending on the subject matter. Of course I can always help you do your homework or study for a test if that's what you need.
The key is making sure you understand every step of the way. I will never make the subject more complicated than it should be, because the best explanation is always the simplest one.
