About Lauren
With ten years experience working as a private tutor and ten years experience working in media, marketing and communication, I have seen how important confidence in English is for academic and career success. I believe finding what motivates each of my students to learn is crucial to unlocking their potential. I also believe that validation and encouraging a playful approach to the topics and texts we explore is key to achieving my students' academic goals. In addition to my work as a tutor, I work as a self-employed consultant, youtuber and podcaster. I am also currently studying counselling and career development. These experiences and my commitment to lifelong learning informs my practice as a tutor and allows me to provide additional support to students who are seeking inspiration for creative projects and entrepreneurship.

I use a person-centred approach to help year 7-12 students improve their marks in English. This means that my focus is on helping my students achieve their own academic goals and that my lessons are tailored to their needs and unique circumstances. In my first session with a student I start by understanding where the gaps in their knowledge are, where they lack confidence, what their dominant learning style is (visual, auditory or kinaesthetic) and what they hope to achieve from our lessons together. Based on how my student learns, I will tailor my lessons to help them gain the knowledge, confidence and tools they need to succeed in English.
