About Christopher
I have been a professional tutor on Wyzant since fall 2012, and a teacher at Cyberninjaz since summer 2015. Prior to that, I had years of experience teaching both formally and informally my friends, classmates, and even a high school AP Computer Science class for a few months. During this time I have tutored countless students and peers of all ages, with many different goals, learning styles, and personalities. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience (and it has definitely kept me busy.)
When I started tutoring professionally in 2012, I was a student at the University of the District of Columbia studying both Mathematics and Computer Science. There I received an Associates Degree in Computer Science, as well as a few publications related to nanotechnology research that I was working on with the engineering department. I also took a few memorable classes in philosophy and music.

I love to learn new things and always ask questions when doing so. I find it personally important to reach a true understanding of whatever I'm trying to learn, and therefore I find it hard to accept new things without that understanding. I believe that when teaching, it is my responsibility to find a way to communicate to the student this deeper understanding and not let them just "accept" a fact or learn too mechanically. Learning, not just doing, in any subject or area of life, is a form of personal growth; it allows us to look at the world in new ways, reevaluate our beliefs, and form connections which ultimately lead to new innovative ideas.

For travel, I charge the cost of my rideshare (e.g. Uber or Lyft) both ways. This is usually around $25-$30 for people not too far from me.
Optionally, we can meet at a public location near me for no travel charge.
