About Marcus
I’m a college math professor, experienced tutor, and graduate student in Applied and Computational Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics summa cum laude, and I genuinely enjoy helping students realize that they are often much better at math than they think they are.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the moment when a difficult concept finally clicks. I try to make math feel less intimidating by breaking ideas down into clear, manageable steps and connecting them to the bigger picture. I’m patient, encouraging, and always willing to explain something in a new way until it makes sense.
I’ve worked with students across many levels, from foundational math through Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Statistics, and other advanced topics. Whether you’re trying to pass a difficult class, prepare for an exam, improve your grade, or simply become more confident in math, I’m here to help you get there.
I take my students’ goals seriously, but I also believe learning should feel comfortable and encouraging. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling more confident, more capable, and a little less intimidated by the next problem in front of you.

I know math can feel frustrating when a concept just isn’t clicking, so my goal is to make each lesson feel comfortable, clear, and low-pressure. I want students to feel like they can ask questions freely, make mistakes, and actually understand why something works instead of just memorizing steps.
In a typical session, I’ll start by figuring out what you already understand and where things begin to get confusing. From there, we’ll work through examples together, break difficult problems into smaller pieces, and practice until you feel comfortable solving problems on your own. I’m always happy to explain something in a different way if the first explanation doesn’t make sense.
I’m a college math professor, an experienced tutor, and a graduate student in applied and computational mathematics, so I’ve worked with students across a wide range of math levels. I can help with everything from middle and high school math to Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and other college-level courses.
What matters most to me is helping students become more confident and independent. Whether you’re struggling with a class, studying for an exam, working through homework, or just trying to strengthen your math skills, I’ll meet you where you are and work with you at a pace that feels comfortable.
