About Aaron

Hi! I’m Aaron. I’m a math educator with over 14 years of experience in education. I’ve worked as a math teacher, special education teacher, online instructor, and instructional designer.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. I was certified in both Mathematics and Special Education and have taught through highly selective programs, including Teach For America and the Fulbright Program with the U.S. Department of State. I also have experience with different math frameworks, including Common Core and Singapore Math.

My background in mathematics, special education, and instructional design has given me experience working with students with a wide range of strengths and learning needs. If your child feels anxious about math or has lost confidence in it, no worries. We’ll work together, and I’ll guide them to discover their strengths in math. Whether they need help with a challenging skill, homework, word problems, building math confidence, or developing the skills to get into the school or program of their dreams, I’ll help them reach their goals.

About the lesson

I know math can feel frustrating, but I also know every child can succeed at it. I don’t just teach formulas—I help students learn how to think like mathematicians.

I specialize in Pre-K–8 math and use patient guidance, clear explanations, visuals, and interactive problem-solving. I guide students to discover connections and patterns in math so they understand why math works, rather than simply memorizing steps. This helps them develop problem-solving skills they can apply anywhere.

I adapt my teaching to each student. Whether your child needs extra support, has special learning needs, learns differently, feels anxious about math, or is ready for a challenge, I adjust my approach to meet them where they are.

A typical lesson with me begins by identifying what the student already understands and where they are getting stuck. We work through concepts together and then practice with gradually less support so the student becomes more confident and independent. Struggling with a challenging problem is part of learning math, but I help make that struggle feel productive rather than overwhelming.

I can also incorporate a student’s school curriculum, homework, word problems, or upcoming assessments into our lessons. I support students from early childhood through middle school with arithmetic, fractions, decimals, ratios, geometry, statistics, algebra, functions, graphing, and introductory trigonometry for advanced students.
