About Stan
I'm a mathematician studying and living in Leiden in the Netherlands. Apart from mathematics, I love reading, painting, writing short stories/poetry and travelling - which is what motivated me to study abroad in the first place. I am also a keen swimmer and like to play music together with my mates :)

I feel strongly about explaining mathematics that may seem complicated at first in an intuitive and easily understandable way. There are several ways to achieve this depending on the student, though there are certain common things that I always emphasise: the importance of hard work, and putting time into planning how you actually approach a problem you're stuck on or something you don't understand. With students I tutor one-to-one, I create typed sheets summarising the content we have covered, with tips of how to solve particular problems (that may appear often in exams, for instance), and in some cases diagrams to fully illustrate what's going on. I typically tutor for a period of roughly 1 hour, though sometimes longer if it's a difficult topic. I have mostly tutored A-Level students and below, though I have also occasionally tutored first-year university students.
