As a math educator with over 30 years of experience, I employ a student-centered approach that emphasizes understanding, engagement, and confidence-building.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

I utilize a blend of explicit instruction and conceptual understanding, ensuring students grasp the 'why' behind mathematical concepts. Incorporating real-world applications and interactive activities, I make math relatable and engaging. I also employ metacognitive strategies to encourage students to think about their own thinking, enhancing problem-solving skills.

Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-Up: Begin with a brief review of previous material to reinforce learning.

Introduction: Present the new concept using clear, explicit instruction.

Guided Practice: Work through examples together, encouraging questions and discussion.

Independent Practice: Allow the student to solve problems independently, providing support as needed.

Review and Reflect: Discuss the solutions and address any misconceptions, reinforcing the day's learning.

What Sets Me Apart:

My extensive experience across diverse educational settings, including international teaching, equips me with a unique perspective on student learning. I tailor my teaching strategies to each student's individual needs, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment that builds confidence and promotes a growth mindset.

Target Audience:

My lessons are designed for students in grades 6–12, covering subjects such as Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Integrated Math 1-3, and Common Core Math for 6th and 7th grades. I cater to diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with varying levels of math proficiency.

By focusing on individual strengths and addressing specific challenges, I aim to make math an accessible and enjoyable subject for all my students.
