About Sophie
Hi there, my name is Sophie and I am a science and maths tutor. I studied biochemistry at university in Sheffield, earning bachelors and master's qualifications. I spent a year researching important proteins of the parasite that causes malaria as well as antibiotic resistance in the bacteria that spreads pneumonia.

I try to make my lessons fun and engaging, I'm really keen to share my love of the subjects and aim to pass on my enthusiasm to my students!
In 2024 I achieved a 1st class honours in my biochemistry master's degree, providing me with a well-rounded proficiency in the sciences. Since my studies, I have worked full time at a tuition centre.
I am experienced in tutoring:
Maths: KS2, KS3 and GCSE
Biology, Chemistry, Physics: KS3 and GCSE
I have previously taught students with diverse abilities, both those who find the subject challenging and are aiming to pass, and those who are already confident and striving for the top grades.
My lessons are typically an hour to an hour and a half long, allowing plenty of time to go over session content, practice questions, and any homework (from school or our previous sessions!).
