About Clare
I'm a mature student (38 y.o.) studying BSc Mathematics and its Teaching at the Open University. I am about to embark on the second year of my degree
I should always have been a maths teacher; my entire life I have been told how easy I make maths seem, and now I am taking that plunge and changing career direction
I want to teach because I know how important a maths GCSE is to every future career path, and just how difficult it is to get one. No one should have their options limited or be stuck in a dead-end job because they're missing a piece of paper

I know maths seems hard, and the way it's taught in classrooms makes it much more difficult than it needs to be. I work with adults and secondary level comprehensive students to understand their style of learning, and then identify the method which suits them as an individual. There are usually at least 5 different ways to do something in maths, so there is always a method which you'll be able to understand
I've found ways to teach people maths using cars, cooking, sports, art, music - whatever your passion maths is everywhere and it doesn't have to be boring
If you like a formal approach we can sit down for a traditional "lesson style" session, if you are a hands on learner we will agree an alternative style of learning - one size does not fit all
The most important thing to remember with tutoring is that you are in control. I'm not here to dictate to you, I'm here to work with you and find the right solution. Together we can get you saying "Maths? It's easy"
