About Junaid
I am an undergraduate Maths and Physics student at Durham University, studying to become a Physics researcher.
I develop my maths and physics skills regularly as part of my degree, making my skills in the subjects highly honed, which is ideal when teaching others- I have a broad enough subject knowledge to be able to answer questions students have. I also have lots of programming experience, using Python and Visual Basic extensively over the past five years for many purposes, from making an object-oriented chess game to plotting scientific graphs.
I am extremely familiar with GCSE and A Level Maths and Physics, having achieved grade 9 in both at GCSE and an A* grade in both at A Level.
I have experience in tutoring students maths weekly, from which I have learnt what makes a good tutoring session. I take a student's individual needs into account, independently planning which topics to cover, determining what method will be best to teach the pupil a topic, and testing the student to identify gaps in their knowledge that I need to fill.

I believe an active approach is best for education; my lessons will require the tutee to engage with questions about the topic in question to determine their level of understanding, and allow me to teach/discuss the topic in a way specific to their needs. I would then check again if the tutee is able to solve the kind of problems they could see in an exam.
My experience working with children, both in my tutoring sessions and during my volunteering at a local computer museum where I taught kids to program has given me a warm, approachable attitude which lets pupils know that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process, helping build their confidence.
