About Giovanna
Hi, my name is Giovanna, and I have been a peer tutor at my schools for as long as I can remember. During my CEGEP degree, I not only tutored for the school, but I was also part of a small, select group of students hired by the math department to host/teach review and problem-solving sessions once a week.
Having tutored a lot, I have learned to truly enjoy sharing my love for math and physics with students.

As a one-on-one tutor, I focus more on increasing the student's intuition for the subject rather than just their ability to solve the given problems in front of them. I do this because I believe that it enables the student to take more control of their own learning and makes their solo study sessions much more efficient. This means that during my sessions, I answer more "Why?" and "How does this work?" questions rather than spending all the time we have together doing a few exercises and examples. I also do this because I really love seeing the student's eyes light up when it finally clicks in their mind why something behaves the way it does.
My first session with a student always involves them getting to know me so they can evaluate if I am the right fit for them, and me getting to know the student so I can figure out how best to help them (based on their way of approaching the subject material).
I believe that I am a better fit to teach students (for both physics and math) from 9th grade to 12th grade (including Calculus I). I do, however, also have experience teaching younger students (5th to 8th grade).
I teach high school science and physics, and CEGEP physics.
List of specific math subjects I teach: Arithmetic, Algebra (all high school levels), Geometry, Trigonometry (from high school to Calculus), Functions (especially relevant from 10th grade to 12th grade and all of Analysis, which includes all forms of Calculus), Probability and Statistics (7th to 12th grade).
