About Tim

I’m a mechanical engineer with a degree from RIT and professional experience applying math, physics, and problem-solving skills to real-world engineering challenges. I enjoy working through difficult problems and breaking complex concepts into clear, manageable steps.

While I’m new to professional tutoring I do have 5 years of being a teacher's assistant in different college courses and I’m excited to help students build a strong understanding of math and physics and, just as importantly, become more confident in their ability to solve problems independently. I take a patient, personalized approach and adjust my explanations based on how each student learns best.

I’m available to help middle school and high school students with subjects including algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, and physics. Whether you need help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for an upcoming exam, or working through challenging homework, I’ll focus on making the material understandable and practical.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to learn math and physics is to understand the concepts behind the equations rather than simply memorizing formulas. As a mechanical engineer, I use a practical and problem-solving approach to help students connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.

My lessons are personalized to each student’s current level and goals. I typically begin by identifying areas where the student is struggling, review the underlying concepts, and then work through example problems together. As the student becomes more comfortable, I gradually have them solve problems independently while providing guidance when needed.

A typical lesson may include reviewing previous material, explaining a new or difficult concept, working through several examples step-by-step, and finishing with practice problems to make sure the student can apply the concept independently. I also encourage students to ask questions and explain their reasoning, since being able to understand and communicate the process is just as important as getting the correct answer.

What sets me apart is my mechanical engineering background and experience applying mathematics and physics to real engineering problems. I can help students see how the material they learn in school connects to the world beyond the classroom, which can make difficult subjects more intuitive and engaging.
