About Taishan

As a mechanical engineering student, I understand how it feels to need guidance sometimes! Math has always been my favorite but it was not my strongest subject until I truly understood it. My understanding of math from my formative academic years from high school to CEGEP helped solidify my success and understanding in all other STEM courses. I took science math in High School, Calculus I, II and III in CEGEP (Sciences), and Engineering Mathematics in University. My work experience includes customer service at Indigo for over 5 years, a space engineering firm for over 2 years, and have mentored other young students in Formula SAE as a chassis lead, and for internships. I am currently continuing my education in a masters of Mechanical Engineering.

As a tutor for machine design and mechanical engineering technical drafting, I understand the importance of explaining conceptual and hard concepts to multiple students with individual learning preferences and skills. I would love the opportunity to help you, or a loved one, develop the skills and confidence the math with individualized lessons.

About the lesson

After 1 year teaching a university course, I understand the need to adapt to the student. Whether it be through hands-on trial-and-error, detailed explanations, analogies to a real-life application or patiently re-explaining, I believe in guiding students to success in the method they find the most useful.

My lessons range from one to two hours, where about 1/2 are lessons and explanations, then the rest of the time is prepared work and questions. In addition, I could lecture the whole time or break it up, depending on the preference of the student.

I am hard working and passionate about making sure to deliver clear explanations, ensuring to spend as much time as needed within the lessons and outside the lessons to make exercises and lesson plans. In addition, as a student that struggled with ADHD when I was younger, I understand how school can be discouraging. However, true mentorship and tutoring helped guide me to develop a passion for mathematics until it became my best subject from Grade 9 to University. I would love to return the guidance and mentorship that truly shaped my academic success.

I offer math tutoring with lessons that range from Grade 5 to University level mathematics. This includes:

- Basic mathematical operations
- Geometry
- Algebra
- Trigonometry
- Calculus I, II and III
- Ordinary Differential Equations
- LaPlace Transforms

In addition, I offer high-school and CEGEP level physics such as:
- Kinematics (E.G. Projectile Motion)
- Displacement, Velocity, Acceleration
- Forces and Energy
- Torque and Centripetal Acceleration

Available for online lessons, or meeting in public at libraries.

I am also open to shorter increments of time, depending on what you need!

In addition to the time spent at the lesson, I will put together additional documents, notes and online materials to make sure that the student can fully remember from our lessons when they study on their own.

Elementary school courses are 20$ per hour or a maximum of two students for 30$ per hour.

High school courses are 25$ per hour. I accept small groups of maximum 4 people, for 75$ per hour and a half.

Cegep courses are 30$ per hour. I accept small groups of maximum 4 people, for 75$ per two hours.

University courses are 35$ per hour. I also accept small groups of maximum 4 people, for 85$ per two hours.
