About Ronaldo
I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Sheffield with AAA in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics at A-Level. I have a strong passion for teaching Maths and enjoy building a positive connection with students, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and engaged from the very first lesson. I specialise in GCSE Maths tutoring and am confident with the AQA specification and familiar with Edexcel, allowing me to adapt lessons to different exam boards.
Over the past year, I have taught 5–6 GCSE students through weekly lessons, helping them improve by an average of 2 grades. I have also completed the Yipiyap tutoring training programme, which has helped me develop a structured and student-focused approach to teaching. For example, one student improved from a grade 4 to a grade 6 within a few months by focusing on core topics, structured practice, and building confidence step by step.
In addition to tutoring, I regularly support classmates with revision strategies, study planning, and problem-solving techniques.
I teach online lessons only.

My teaching philosophy is that students need to both understand concepts and actively practise them to improve. During lessons, I focus on building clear understanding and teaching effective methods, but real progress comes from consistent practice outside of lessons. I guide students through this process and set targeted homework where needed.
Each lesson follows a clear structure to maximise progress. We begin with a short 5–10 minute recap of previous topics to reinforce understanding and identify gaps. We then move on to a new topic, breaking it down into simple steps and explaining how the method works. After this, we work through questions together before moving on to independent practice so the student can apply what they’ve learned. At the end of the lesson, we review progress and discuss next steps to keep improvement consistent.
As lessons are delivered online, I make them as interactive as possible by working through questions in real time, encouraging students to explain their thinking, and using shared working, diagrams, and visual explanations to keep them engaged.
I adapt my teaching style to each student based on their level, confidence, and how they best understand the material. If a student is struggling, I slow the pace, break problems down into smaller steps, and return to core fundamentals before progressing. I often use visual aids, diagrams, colour coding, and simple analogies to make concepts easier to understand. For students who learn best through practice, I increase the focus on questions and guided problem-solving to build confidence and fluency.
For lower-confidence students, I begin with more accessible topics to build early success and create a comfortable learning environment before gradually increasing difficulty. For stronger students aiming for higher grades, I focus more on exam technique, speed, and exposure to more challenging questions to push their performance further.
I personalise lessons using a structured tracking system, where I record progress, topics covered, and areas of weakness. Each lesson begins with a short recap to assess retention, and future lessons are adapted based on this. If a student repeatedly makes the same mistake, I revisit the underlying concept, adjust my explanation, and reinforce it through targeted practice until it is fully understood.
Many students I work with struggle with confidence, exam technique, or gaps in key topics. I address this by using worked examples, visual explanations, and guided practice, gradually reducing support so students become independent problem-solvers.
To ensure lessons are effective, I use topic-based questions, past papers, and short assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses early. This allows me to tailor each lesson to the individual student and focus on the areas that will have the greatest impact.
I particularly enjoy teaching topics such as algebra, trigonometry, and the foundations of calculus, where students often struggle initially but can make strong progress with the right guidance.

My daughter loves maths and Ronaldo helps her learn and love it more !
Can’t recommend anyone betterRonaldo is my cousin and an incredibly smart and dedicated tutor. He is kind, patient, and always takes the time to explain things clearly until they fully make sense. He has a real talent for teaching and making Maths easier to understand. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable tutor.
Ronaldo is my former tutee. As someone who tutored him from the age of 6 all the way to 16 and continued as an academic advisor until he went to university, I can personally attest to how capable Ronaldo is, as he has tutored in the past to great success.
He has the depth of knowledge required but also the patience and understanding to make difficult concepts accessible. I have no doubt that whomever he tutors will find themselves with an extremely competent while simultaneously kind teacher who will help his students find success and achievement.I’m taking gcse’s and Ronaldo has been really helpful, he was very clear and understanding and made me go from grade 5 to grade 7/8 so happy and would definitely recommend
Super patient and intuitive tutor, identified my daughter’s weaker areas in maths and helped to strengthen them, ended up getting an 8 in GCSE maths.
Would recommend.I recommend Ronaldo. He was very patient and very clear in his teachings.
