About Aaliyah

I'm a 3rd year Medical Student with a genuine passion for academics and for helping others succeed. Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing badminton, singing, and travelling!
My friends describe me as kind and friendly, and often say I'm great at teaching, particularly at breaking down complex concepts into simple, digestible ideas, a skill I'm excited to bring to my students. I'm naturally driven and don't like to give up easily; I've always pushed myself to excel and work my way up, and I want to help my students do the same.
Teaching is something I genuinely love. I want to use my own experience and understanding of these subjects to help students build real confidence and achieve the top marks they're capable of.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring
I structure my lessons around the exam board specification, ensuring every session is mapped to the learning objectives students will actually be tested on. We start by building solid fundamental understanding of each topic before layering on complexity - I find skipping this step is where most students lose marks later on.
I teach using the same study materials and techniques that helped me achieve A*A*A* at A Level (Biology and Maths — Edexcel, Chemistry — AQA), so students benefit from resources that are already proven to work. I'm also happy to share these materials directly with my students.
From early on, I integrate exam technique alongside content — this isn't left until the end of a topic or the weeks before exams. I drill key command words and mark-scheme language from the start, since I know exactly what examiners are looking for to award marks. We move into past paper and exam-style questions as soon as the foundational understanding is secure, so students get comfortable applying knowledge under exam conditions well before the real thing.
Lesson length: Typically 1 hour per session, though I'm flexible on this depending on the topic or student's needs.
My background: I'm currently a 3rd year Medical Student, having achieved A*A*A* at A Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths (Edexcel Biology and Maths, AQA Chemistry). This gives me a strong, up-to-date grasp of the content as well as firsthand experience of exactly what it takes to succeed at the top grade.
Who it's for: GCSE and A Level students studying Chemistry or Biology, including those aiming for top grades or considering competitive courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, or other science-related degrees.
