About Maryellen

Patience is a byproduct of knowing exactly how messy the learning process feels. My route to an MS in Computer Science was rarely a straight line through the woods. Working with over 300+ students has taught me that the best breakthroughs happen after a series of wrong turns.

I prioritize creating a sustainable routine that functions once I am no longer part of the equation. Many of the people in my calendar are balancing complex coding concepts alongside the demands of a full 40-hour work week.

I prefer hearing an incorrect answer voiced aloud over a silent correct one. My goal is to make my own role completely redundant through steady guidance.

12 distinct years of experience have helped me simplify the way I explain technical hurdles. You deserve a mentor who values clarity over complexity in every conversation. It is easier to talk through logic when you know your instructor has been just as confused as you are. I am happy to help career switchers and beginners find their footing.

About the lesson

Confidence grows once you stop fearing the red text of an error message. Are you tired of feeling stuck whenever your code refuses to run as expected?

We will examine the fundamentals of Python, including variables, data types, and loop structures. My approach leverages the technical training from my Penn State degree to keep concepts grounded.

Clean code is a habit we build together from the very start. I focus on practical file handling and debugging strategies that save you hours of frustration.

5 years of teaching have taught me which roadblocks trip up most students. You can review all session recordings whenever you need a refresher on a specific topic. I provide a calm environment where trial and error is the primary method of improvement.
