I believe my job as an educator is multi-faceted. It includes, but is not limited to, creating a safe and positive learning environment for my students, fostering a love for learning, and challenging each student to reach their fullest potential. In order for me to achieve these goals, I emphasize three main values in my classroom. The first would be to respect oneself and others including property and person. The second value is responsibility. I believe all students have the ability to respond and make decisions independently. Third, I encourage students to think. Using higher-order questioning, I lead students to discover answers to many of their own questions and to take risks to share their thoughts in small group collaborations. I have a passion to help and challenge all students to reach their fullest potential. I enjoy the challenge of both gifted as well as special education students.
