About Jordan

I have studied languages for almost ten years and therefore have a strong, in-depth understanding of effective lesson structures that will enhance a student's capacity in their target language. However, having been a student myself I am also aware that one lesson-plan does not always suit everyone, and therefore welcome feedback so that I may adapt the structure in order for you to get the best out of these lessons.

About the lesson

After an introductory lesson to gain an understanding of where the student is at and what they wish to achieve from these tutoring sessions, my French and Spanish sessions would last one hour and would be roughly structured as follows (but flexible and adaptable to the student's needs): - a recap of the last lesson through a short test (including vocabulary, translation, and grammar exercises) to go through and discuss answers afterwards (approx. 10-15min) - introductory list of new vocabulary for today's topic including 2-3 short exercises involving the new vocabulary (approx. 10-15min) - a short text on today's topic for the student to read through and answer a few comprehensive questions to ensure the student's understanding of the text (approx. 10-15min) - a 1-2 minute audio played with 2-3 follow-up questions to ensure the student's understanding of the clip (approx. 10-15min) - a brief conversation in the target language to discuss the theme further (can draw ideas from the text or audio) (approx 5-10 minutes) These sessions are designed to enable the student to practise the key components of a language (reading, listening, speaking). These session plans are a general structure, and if the student is confident in their speaking ability but needs to work on their listening skills for example, the sessions would be tailored to spend more time on that skill.

Perfect! It was lovely to meet Jordan, she introduced me to some interesting topics and understood well my level of French. I learnt new vocabulary as well as revising certain grammar points such as the subjunctive, it was a very good lesson.
