About Katherine

Hi, I’m Katherine! I'm a neuroscience graduate, former SEN learning mentor, and passionate educator excited to begin my journey as a tutor. Although I’m new to tutoring, I bring years of experience supporting children in both educational and healthcare settings. I hold an MSc in Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience and currently work full time in the NHS. Previously, I spent two years working in a London primary school as an SEN Learning Mentor where I supported children with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and neurodevelopmental needs. I was proud to serve as the school’s Autism Champion and Mental Health Lead. My sessions are warm, inclusive, and tailored to each child’s unique strengths. Whether your child is neurodivergent, a budding scientist, or simply curious about how the brain works, I’ll help them learn with confidence and joy. Tutoring sessions are available in 30-minute or 60-minute formats, online or in-person (South East London). Outside of work, I love cooking, music, and volunteering with charities - so creativity and compassion are always part of the mix! Let’s help your child thrive.

About the lesson

Is your child curious about how the brain works, why people behave the way they do, or how science explains everyday life? I offer engaging, inclusive tutoring in science and psychology for children and teens which is tailored to their interests, learning style, and emotional needs. I hold a BSc degree in Psychology and an MSc degree in Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience, and bring two years of experience as an SEN Learning Mentor in a London primary school. I’ve worked closely with children facing emotional, behavioural and social challenges, and was appointed the school’s Autism Champion and Mental Health Lead during my time working there. What I offer: - Sessions available in 30-minute or 60-minute formats. - Fun, age-appropriate lessons in science and psychology tailored to your child's learning style. - Clear, compassionate explanations of complex ideas. - Support for neurodivergent learners and those with special educational needs. - 1:1 sessions that build confidence, emotional regulation, and curiosity. - Techniques from social thinking, mindfulness, and creative learning. - Support with schoolwork, enrichment, or early interest in STEM subjects. Whether your child needs a boost in core subjects or a safe space to explore big ideas, I’ll help them learn with compassion, clarity, and care.
