About Sallie
I teach because I want others to experience the clarity that comes from turning a vague thought into a structured piece of art. Songwriting is a craft that requires patience, observation, and a willingness to revise until the message rings true.
My own process involves finding that moment where an idea turns into a finished song, a feeling I have chased for 5 years. I hold a BA in Music from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, which informs how I analyze the emotional weight of lyrics and melody.
Working with 95 students has shown me that every independent artist and hobbyist possesses a distinct perspective waiting to be articulated. I strive to be a supportive coach who listens intently to your goals before we start drafting lines.
Gigging musicians often come to me when they need to sharpen their point of view or find their specific voice. I focus on the details of your narrative so the final product feels authentic and grounded. You deserve to share your stories with confidence. My process works.

You arrive with a single melodic hook and we spend the hour exploring how that fragment supports a full verse and bridge. We look at song structure through the lens of your specific project needs. My 5 years of experience allow me to identify exactly where a chord progression might be stalling your momentum. I show you how to write to a brief or expand your vocabulary of perspectives to keep your audience engaged.
We break down the art of rewriting until every line serves the greater goal of the track. You learn how to move past the fear of the blank page by using concrete editing techniques.
Your growth as a writer comes from consistent practice in choosing the right words over the right chords. I provide the technical framework so you can focus on the soul of your music. We build your confidence one verse at a time.
