About Max

Hello, and thanks for considering me to be your guitar teacher! I've been teaching for about four years now in one-on-one, classroom, and camp/workshop settings. I've worked with students of all ages and musical styles and welcome players of any skill and knowledge levels to take lessons with me. I'm passionate and have an extensive level of experience in jazz, rock, bluegrass, blues, and classical music. Not only do I love performing those styles of music, but I love teaching them, too! I received a bachelor's degree in jazz performance at the University of Nevada, Reno and am very qualified to teach music theory and songwriting, as well. Learning how to play music is a lifelong process, and I believe there is a lot to be learned in teaching others. Thank you for considering me and I look forward to learning more together!

About the lesson

I believe that having a strong fundamental understanding of music and the guitar is the key to improvement and making music more fun. This doesn't mean that I'm going to force sight reading and music theory lessons upon my students, unless of course they're interested in that! Instead, I believe in catering to the specific goals of each of my students while also integrating guitar/music fundamentals like knowing chords, healthy technique, and learning how to use our ears. Whether you're looking to make music your career, or you're more interested in learning how to play your favorite songs for yourself, I can give you the tools you need to achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
