About Jim
I’m Jim Fleser, the author of The Chord Wheel, the best-selling music reference title of the 21st century. Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of musicians see the underlying patterns in music — not just as rules to follow, but as creative fuel. My background blends traditional theory with real-world songwriting, recording, and especially emerging AI platforms. These are all tools and not a replacement for artists. I’ve worked with bands, built production studios, designed educational apps, and composed using both analog gear and cutting-edge software. But at my core, I’m a teacher who loves demystifying music and helping others unlock their creativity. If you're ready to level up your songwriting or finally understand how music really works, I'd love to work with you.

What We’ll Do Together
If you’ve ever wanted to truly understand how music works — not just play it — I’ll guide you through the deep logic of chords, harmony, and songwriting. Together, we’ll explore:
How chords function and connect in real-world songs
Why certain progressions feel powerful or emotional — and how to use that in your own writing
How to build songs from scratch using theory as your creative compass
How to unlock melodic ideas and structure lyrics with musical purpose
Optional: Integrating AI tools (like Suno, AIVA, Output) to support or expand your songwriting process
Lessons are tailored to your level, your instrument, and your goals. Whether you’re writing your first song or refining a complex harmonic idea, you’ll leave each session with new clarity and practical tools — not just abstract concepts.

Perfect! Very clear. Got through a lot. Was able to begin assessing my status quo so we can get started with the learning. He seems knowledgable and honest. Collaborative. Not pejorative. Kind - so that goes to building trust. I think you learn more from people you trust. Flexible. This could be fun getting to hone a craft I wish i would have started years ago. But hey - why not start.
- Tom is a highly creative guy that has found his perfect little niche in the world of music creation. He's a blast to work with.See the response Jim :
